With Beam Reach you get a rare chance to study endangered killer whales and their environment. For 10 intensive weeks you’ll experience life as a field scientist.
You’ll work closely with your instructor to design a research project. You’ll get to ask your own research question, design your own experiment, gather and analyze field data, and present your results.
Beam Reach students make authentic contributions to killer whale science and conservation biology. Here are a couple past student projects:
- Killer whale vocal response to vessel traffic
- Localizing vocalizations in southern resident killer whales
