Reggea music

Dancehall is a wildly popular genre of music, originating out of Jamaica. It's now popular in clubs all over the world including North America. Over the years, dancehall music has become faster and more digitalized. At one point in the 90's, Reggae and Dancehall became well associated with Rastafari, but that wasn't the case in the 70's and 80's.

When Reggae became popular it was known to most outsiders as the music that talks about weed. Well it was not all just about smoking weed but that Is one part of the <a href="www.DJ14K.com">Reggae Music</a> Rastafari culture and many of the Reggae artist were followers of the Rasta faith. So it would make sense that much of the music was singing about their faith and love of Jah, weed and humanity for all.

During the mid 1980’s the digital Reggae scene started to emerge and from this so did Dancehall music. Dancehall is the younger brother per say of Reggae music. It is done for of a more younger crowd and tends to talk about things that the youth like such as fashion, fun, girls, etc. The explosion of Dancehall though like its cousin in America Hip Hop<a href="www.DJ14K.com">Dancehall Reggae</a> (and for those that do not know Hip Hop was born from Reggae music) has taken over even main stream where as many people outside of the Reggae world have known or heard of Dancehall.

From the Dancehall also comes what is known as sound systems. This is how Dancehall is usually spread through out Jamaica and has also grown internationally as well. A sound system consist of a MC (talker) and 1 or 2 selectors (or DJ’s as they may be known in the states). They play against other sound systems to see who can play the best Dancehall music and have the crown on there side. They even “clash” and at times can become very very heated as the music and vibes are taking over everyone involved.
